5 generations of passion for wine and vineyards
Since 1900, the RENOU family has owned the Caves du Plessis estate, located partly on the slopes of St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, where the vineyard covers 33 hectares. Cabernet Franc is the exclusive grape variety of the vineyard. It produces aromatic wines with hints of raspberry and violet, with a fullness and structure that allow them to evolve in the cellar for a decade or more.
You will have plenty of time to make up your own mind in the tasting room, where you will be given a warm welcome.
Wines produced: Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil red and rosé, and Crémant de Loire white and rosé.
A rich domain near Saumur
On the right bank of the Loire, facing south, the Appellation area is protected from the north winds by the forest. The draining soils of "gravel", i.e. sand and pebbles, are dominant here, except in the north where we find tufa slopes.
It is to this variety of soils and to the micro-climate, from which the vineyard benefits, that the wine owes both its character and its diversity.
